NTDP tabs Fohr as assistant

Press Release

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Nick Fohr has been named assistant coach at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Ann Arbor, Mich., it was announced today. Fohr will help guide the U.S. National Under-17 Team in the 2011-12 season.

“Nick is highly regarded and will be a terrific addition to our coaching staff,” said Scott Monaghan, senior director of operations at the NTDP. "He brings the energy, commitment and experience needed to help our players reach their full potential."

Fohr most recently completed his second stint at the University of Nebraska at Omaha as director of hockey operations. He previously served in the same position from 2004-07 before working behind the bench as assistant coach for the Mavericks (2007-2010). Fohr also spent time at UNO as an undergraduate assistant coach in 2002-03.

Prior to his time with the Mavericks, Fohr was an undergraduate assistant coach at Miami University.

"Very few people get the opportunity to represent their country on such a large stage," said Fohr. "I'm extremely excited and look forward to getting started right away."

Fohr was a four-year letterwinner with UNO (1998-2002) and also played for two seasons with the United States Hockey League's Lincoln Stars (1996-98), where he earned a spot on the USHL All-Star Team in 1997-98.

Fohr replaces Chadd Cassidy, who left to become an assistant coach with the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans after five seasons at the NTDP.
