Austin Connor Retires From Hockey, Giants Get 4th Round Pick Instead

Press Release

Austin Connor, who was acquired by the Vancouver Giants Monday from the Prince Albert Raiders along with Arvin Atwal for Teal Burns and Tyler Hart, has decided to retire from hockey rather then report to the Giants. The 19 year old forward was in his second year in the WHL. In lieu, the Giants have been given a 4th round pick in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft by the Raiders.

"Obviously this isn't what we expected, but at the same time we understand," said Executive Vice-President and General Manager Scott Bonner. "When I spoke to Austin it was quite clear his heart wasn't into it. All we can do at this point is respect his wishes and move on."
