Vancouver Giants forward Marek Tvrdon has been selected to represent Slovakia at the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships in Calgary and Edmonton December 26, 2011 to January 5, 2012. Tvrdon is in his 2nd season with the Giants and is 14th in the league in scoring with 13 goals, 17 assists, and 30 points in 24 games this year.
Despite playing just 12 games last year after undergoing season ending shoulder surgery, Tvrdon was drafted in the 4th round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, 115th overall by the Detroit Red Wings.
The 18 year old will join Team Slovakia December 15. They are in a pool with Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, and Latvia.
