New Smokies Blueliner Set For Home Debut

Press Release

TRAIL, BC -- The Trail Smoke Eaters will have a new face on the back end when they host the Penticton Vees tonight (Friday).

17 year-old Shane Poulsen made his Smokies debut Wednesday at Salmon Arm after being called up from the KIJHL's Kamloops Storm, and will wear number 4 this evening.

In 19 games with the Junior "B" side, Poulsen, a Kamloops native scored 16 points (2-14). The 6'3" rearguard added 28 minutes in penalties, helping the Storm to a league-best 17-1-0-2 record. He also played in one BCHL game this season as an affiliate with the Prince George Spruce Kings.

"While it will create a hole on the defense for a time, it is a positive move for Shane and we wish him all the best," Storm head coach Geoff Smith said.

"We are a development league and losing players is a part of that development."
