Canada wins 7-1 over Suisse in second World Junior Warmup

Canada's National Junior Team skated to a 7-1 victory over Switzerland Thursday night in Red Deer, AB, in the second of three pre-competition games prior to the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Former Mississauga St. Michael's Major Devante Smith-Pelly scored twice including the opening goal at 9:29 of the first period on the power play.

Mark Stone of the Brandon Wheat Kings had a three-point game with a goal and two assists, while Freddie Hamilton of the Niagara IceDogs had a goal and an assist, and Brandon Gormley of the Moncton Wildcats had two assists.

Boone Jenner of the Oshawa Generals scored his second goal in two exhibition games for Canada, while Tanner Pearson of the Barrie Colts and Ryan Strome of the Niagara IceDogs also picked up goals.

Scott Wedgewood of the Plymouth Whalers earned the victory in goal.

Dario Trutmann of the Whalers and Lino Martschini of the Peterborough Petes each picked up assists on the lone Suisse goal.

Canada will now play Sweden Friday night in Edmonton which can be seen live on TSN at 9:30 pm Eastern.
