Last season in Winnipeg, 20 OHL players captured Ontario’s third gold medal in four years with a thrilling 5-3 win over the United States with Sean Monahan of the Ottawa 67’s scoring the game-winning goal.  Daniel Altshuller of the Oshawa Generals and Andreas Athanasiou of the London Knights were both named tournament All-Stars.

The 27-game tournament will be centered out of Windsor but will feature games in LaSalle and Tecumseh, while Amherstburg and Essex will host pre-tournament games on Wednesday.

The 10 teams are divided into two groups. Group A will feature Germany, Ontario, Pacific (Alberta, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Yukon), Sweden and West (Manitoba, Nunavut, Saskatchewan), while Atlantic (New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island), the Czech Republic, Quebec, Russia and the United States will comprise Group B.

Team Ontario begins Preliminary Action Thursday afternoon against Germany at the WFCU Centre.
