AJHL All Star and Young Guns Selections Announced

The 2012 AJHL All Star weekend is set to be held Sunday, January 29th at Iorio Arena in Walpole, MA. Last year’s event saw close to 50 NHL and NCAA college scouts in attendance. The All Star game selections are the top performing AJHL players as voted on by the coaches, while the Young Guns team is the top performing players with a ’93 birth year or younger.

The All Star team will be comprised of 12 forwards, 8 defensemen and 3 goaltenders. A total of 4 forwards, 2 defensemen, and 1 goalie have also been named as alternates should any player not be able to participate. The Young Guns team will be comprised of 10 forwards, 6 defensemen and 2 goaltenders. 2 forwards and 2 defensemen have been named as alternates.

Puck drop for the Young Guns game will be at 10:55 AM on the Olympic Rink. Puck drop for the All Star game will be at 1:05 PM on the Olympic Rink.

Walpole Express Head Coach Mark Kumpel and Northern Cyclones Head Coach Bill Flanagan will coach the two AJHL All Star teams. Hartford Jr. Wolf Pack Head Coach Chris Cerrella and New Jersey Rockets Head Coach Bob Thornton will coach the two AJHL Young Guns teams.

The four head coaches will have a draft this week to determine the rosters for each team.
