Coquitlam's youngest player locked up by Merrimack for 2014

Press Release

Coquitlam Express 1995-born forward Jace Hennig has played just nine games in the BCHL but has landed an NCAA Div. I scholarship as he committed this week to Merrimack College for the 2014-15 season.

The 5-foot-10, 160-pound Port Moody product has a goal and an assists so far in his young career and looks to be a big part of the future of the Express franchise.

"This is great news and a good commitment for local young kids to see how our program benefits the younger players," said Express head coach Jon Calvano.

Hennig began the current season with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs of the B.C. Major Midget League and racked up 20 goals and 21 assists in just 18 games.

Merrimack has been a major recruiter of BCHL talent in recent seasons with six league alums (Kyle Bigos, Mike Collins, Brendan Ellis, Jordan Heywood, Quinn Gould and Kyle Singleton) on their current roster and six more (Izaak Berglund, Wade Murphy, Braxton Bilous, Hennig, Matt Cronin and Austin Plevy) committed for seasons ahead.
