All Star awards announced

The Maritime Junior Hockey League and Premier sponsor Kent announced the 1st team All Star winners for 2011-2012 on Wednesday. Each season, the eleven MHL member teams vote on award winners and All Stars and the All Star selections for 2011-2012 are as follows:

Goal: Charles Grant (Yarmouth Mariners)
Defense: Dylan King (Metro Marauders)
Defense: Tim Campbell (Woodstock Slammers)
Left Wing: Colin Campbell (Yarmouth Mariners)
Centre: Mike Szmatula (Summerside Western Capitals)
Right Wing: Nick Parker (Weeks Crushers)

The league also votes on a number of individual awards including Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, Top Defenseman, Top Goaltending Duo and others, plus recognition for achievements in Community and Leadership, the MHL Character Award and Scholastic Player of the Year. The recipients of these awards will be announced later this week.
