Duluth's Matt Morsette named SIJHL's most improved player

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Friday that Matt Morsette of the Duluth Clydesdales has been named the SIJHL’s most improved player for the 2011-12 season.

The Duluth forward edged out Jayme Brattengeier of the Sioux Lookout Flyers and Ryan Wildman of the Fort Frances Lakers for the award, in voting completed by the SIJHL’s seven-member clubs.

A 20-year-old native of Two Harbors, Minn., Morsette has already shattered his previous single-season-best offensive totals having amassed 49 points on 25 goals and 24 assists in 46 games so far this season. He also shares the league-lead in power play tallies with 11.

His efforts currently has the Clydesdales’ assistant captain second on his team, as well as tied for 15th overall, in league scoring.
