PHL Championship series set for this weekend

The North American Prospects Hockey League (PHL) Championship Tournament Series will take place this weekend from February 17-20 at the Troy Sports Center in Troy, Michigan, including the championship games in each of the three divisions - Midget Major (18U) and Midget Minor (16U) and Bantam Major (14U) - slated for Monday, February 20th.

At the Championship Tournament Series, the top eight teams in the final regular-season standings in each the 18U and 16U divisions will compete in the Gold Championship Series to play for a PHL championship. All five teams will compete in the Gold Series in the 14U division.

The remaining teams from each the 18U and 16U brackets will play in their own division’s Silver Consolation Series.

The 18U teams competing in the Gold Series are: the Pittsburgh Viper Stars, Pikes Peak Miners, California Titans, Lansing Capitals, Wenatchee Wild, Detroit Falcons, Orange Hockey Club and Phoenix Firebirds.

The 16U teams competing in the Gold Series are: the San Jose Jr. Sharks, Indiana Jr. Ice, Omaha AAA Lancers, New Jersey Jr. Titans, Orange County Hockey Club, Pittsburgh Viper Stars, Las Vegas Storm and Texas Tornado.

16U Championship Standings

The 14U teams competing in the Gold Series are: the St. Louis Selects, California Titans, San Jose Jr. Sharks, Texas Tornado and West Michigan Hounds.

The PHL Championship Tournament Series will be played in conjunction with the North American Hockey League (NAHL) Top Prospects Tournament , which will be held from February 20-22 at the Troy Sports center, and the North American 3 Hockey League (3HL) East Showcase, which will run from February 19-22, also at the Troy Sports Center.

All 38 PHL teams are guaranteed at least four full games over the weekend.

All games will be broadcast live via the Internet through FASTHockey.com.
