PLAYOFF OPENER TO BE TELEVISED

Press Release

SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs will be in the national spotlight once again.

The Sea Dogs announced Thursday that their opening game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs will be televised nationally on Sportsnet and TVA Sports.

Saint John has clinched home-ice advantage in the first round of the President’s Cup playoffs and will open at home on March 23. Sportsnet will televise the game in English (networks to be announced), with TVA Sports providing French-language coverage.

“We are honoured that the Sea Dogs and the city of Saint John will be showcased nationally yet again,” said Sea Dogs President Wayne Long. “We are looking forward to another big crowd and another great game.”

It will be the second nationally televised game at Harbour Station this season. Junior hockey fans from coast to coast watched on Feb. 17 as the Sea Dogs defeated the Quebec Remparts 4-1 before a sold-out crowd.

Saint John sits first overall in the QMJHL and No. 2 in the BMO Canadian Hockey League MasterCard Top 10 rankings with a record of 42-14-0-2. The team’s full first-round playoff schedule will be released at a later date, after seeding is determined.
