Riders Defenseman Commits to Providence College

Cedar Rapids RoughRiders defenseman John Gilmour has committed to play hockey at Providence College following his USHL career.

The 18-year-old defenseman has collected 13 points (5g, 8a) in 41 games during his first USHL season. In just his third game in the League, he scored his first USHL goal and earned a plus-five rating in the 10-2 win vs. Sioux City on October 14th, 2011. The Montreal, Quebec also recorded a two-goal game in the 7-2 victory over rival Dubuque on January 20th.

Gilmour will have a familiar face in the locker room when he sets foot on the campus of Providence College as Riders teammate Nick Saracino is also committed to play hockey at the school.

Providence College is a member of Hockey East and has four USHL alumni on the roster this season – defensemen Mark Adams (Chicago Steel), Barrett Kaib (Team USA), and Alex Velischek (Sioux City Musketeers), and forward Stefan Demopoulos (Omaha Lancers).
