Eight Player Commitments

Press Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Following the most successful and productive Spring Prospects Camp in franchise history, the Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) are proud to announce eight player commitments. I couldn't be happier with how things turned out, said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. Without question this was our highest caliber and most productive Spring Prospects Camp we've ever had.

Committing to the Spruce Kings for the 2012-13 season are: Alec Butcher (F, '94, 5' 10 , 185, Anchorage, AK), Bryant Christian (F, '93, 5' 10 , 165, Moorhead, MN), Tanner Fjellstrom (F, '94, 5' 11 , 195, Prince George, BC), Michael Fretz (F, '94, 5' 9 , 160, Snohomish, WA), Ryan Keis (F, '94, 6' 1 , 170, Quesnel, BC), Jeremiah Luedtke (F, '94, 5' 8 , 150, Lynwood, WA), Liam McLeod (G, '96, 5' 10 , 190, Kamloops, BC) and Chad Staley (F, '94, 5' 9 , 170, Kennewick, WA).

We have some big holes to fill in our roster and these commitments obviously go a long way towards doing that, continued Hawes. Being able to secure commitments from eight very talented players is very exciting for us. As a group these players possess a great combination of speed, skill, grit and character. I know that our fans are going to enjoy watching these players for the next few years. These eight players bring the current number of new players committed to play for the Spruce Kings in the 2012-13 season to nine with defenceman Karan Toor who committed prior to the Spring Prospects camp. The new players and those eligible to return next season will now work towards being ready for the team’s main camp at the end of August in Prince George.
