67's 2nd Round Pick Jonathan Duchesne Commits to Ottawa

Press Release

The Ottawa 67’s today announced the signing of their 2nd round pick in the 2012 OHL Priority Selection Draft (39th overall), left defenceman Jonathan Duchesne of the Minor Midget AAA Vaughan Kings. 15-year-old Duchesne, a native of Brampton, ON., stands 6’ tall and weighs 200 lbs. He scored 3 goals and added 17 assists with the Kings last season in 36 games.

“Jonathan played a well-rounded game in Minor Midget…on the power play, the penalty kill and at even strength,” said 67’s Head Coach and General Manager Chris Byrne. “He also made good use of his size and I’m looking forward to seeing him on the ice at Ottawa U this weekend for our initiation camp.”

Duchesne and other 67’s rookies and prospects will take to the ice this weekend at the University of Ottawa Sports Complex for two days of scrimmages and evaluation, hoping to earn an invitation to the team’s main training camp at the end of August.
