CHIEFS' KRAMER SIGNS WITH NHL'S SENATORS

OTTAWA - Darren Kramer, captain of the 2011-12 Spokane Chiefs, has signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. Kramer recently completed his final season of eligibility with the Chiefs and scored 22 goals, 40 points and registered 200 penalty minutes, second in the WHL, in 71 games in 2011-12. He was selected by Ottawa in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

A native of Peace River, Alta., Kramer, 20, has recorded at least 200 penalty minutes over the last four seasons, the first two of which were spent with the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Grande Prairie Storm. Over a two-season WHL career with Spokane, Kramer registered 54 points (30 goals, 24 assists) while amassing 506 penalty minutes, including a league leading 306 in 2010-11. In 29 career post-season contests with the Chiefs, he recorded 14 points (eight goals, six assists) while registering 41 penalty minutes.
