Four Bronco Prospects Invited to Team Alberta U17 Selection Camp

Bronco prospects defencemen Brycen Martin and Zach Gonek along with forwards Cavin Leth and Cameron Hughes were invited to the 2012 Team Alberta Under-17 Selection Camp, which gets underway tonight in Leduc, AB.

Defenceman Brycen Martin – Selected 1st round, 2nd overall – 2011 WHL Bantam Draft

Defenceman Zach Gonek – Selected 1st round, 13th overall – 2011 WHL Bantam Draft

Forward Cavin Leth – Selected 2nd round, 39th overall – 2011 WHL Bantam Draft

Forward Cameron Hughes – Selected 9th round, 178th overall – 2011 WHL Bantam Draft

Both Martin and Hughes will play for Team Blue, while Leth will represent Team Black and Gonek Team Red.

The Selection Camp will begin tonight at the Leduc Recreation Centre and conclude on Sunday, May 26th. The camp will include team building, on-ice practice, classroom sessions and games.

Team Alberta U17 is the final stage of the Team Alberta Male Program which gives athlete’s exposure to International Competition and opens the door for a chance to participate in Hockey Canada’s National Programs. The World U17 Hockey Challenge is the pinnacle event for an athlete in the provincial Team Alberta Program and is the first stage of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence which in turn leads to the National Team Canada U18 and U20 Programs.
