NATIONAL CHAMPION & TOP SCORER SIGN WITH RAYS'

Press Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The IceRays have completed the list of tenders for the upcoming season by signing goaltender Jett Salinas of the Helena Bighorns, along with forward Ian McGilvrey to the final two tender deals of the year.

“Words can't describe how great the feeling is to sign with a such an amazing organization that’s known for moving players on to the next level,” said Salinas. “I see the move to Corpus as a great opportunity to improve my game and get valuable exposure. I'm excited to kick-start next season off with the IceRays.”

The Los Angeles born goalie captured a national championship with the Helena Bighorns after posting a .936 save percentage, a 1.63 goals against average, and four shutouts during the regular season. In the playoffs, Salinas recorded a .929 save percentage, and a 1.95 goals against average.

IceRays head coach Justin Quenneville described Salinas as “quick” and “athletic” goalie who was highly recruited. “We were very high on Jett all the way back in 2010-11 when we saw him in California. As a quick and athletic goalie with size, he was a highly recruited player who ultimately made his decision to sign here. He won a championship this year with Helena and bringing a winner like him in will be a great asset.”

Ian McGilvrey played across the country in the EJHL for the New England Huskies. He finished 16th in the league with 54 points (31g, 23a) in 44 games played.

“It feels great to sign with such a great organization,” said McGilvrey. “I'm looking forward to meeting the team, being on the ice, and just getting the season started. I've heard nothing but great things about Corpus, and I'm excited to continue my career down there.”

He also played six games for the Janesville Jets and 45 games for the New Mexico Mustangs in the NAHL during the 2010-2011 season. In the 51 total games played in the NAHL, he notched 18 total points (9g, 9a).

“Ian is a competitor who will be a top tier player for this organization and will be relied on for not only his offensive ability, but his experience and leadership,” Quenneville said when asked about McGilvrey. “We are excited about all the tenders we signed and are looking forward to seeing them at camp.”
