AMHL Announces Officiating Tryout Camp

Press Release sent to the World of Junior Hockey

Hawthorne, NJ – The Atlantic Metropolitan Hockey League, in conjunction with the USA Hockey Officiating Development Program (ODP) is pleased to announce that there will be a three day tryout camp at Mennen Ice Arena (Morristown, NJ) on July, 27, 28 and 29.

The USA Hockey Officiating Development Program has served as a training ground for the development of on-ice officials in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League (MET) up to the United States Hockey League (USHL) and has fed officials into a variety of professional hockey leagues, such as the ECHL, the AHL and the NHL.

Just this past season, two Atlantic District officials, Chris Pitoscia and Brett Sheva, officiated game five of the best of five USHL Clark Cup Championship series and Zac Blazic, also from the Atlantic District, was a full time referee in the Central Hockey League.

The MJHL is looking for younger officials, usually between the ages of 16 and 25, that are interested in taking this path of development in officiating. The three day tryout will consist of classroom discussions, video review, off-ice physical testing and skating. Hotel accommodations are available upon request.

If interested, please email your officiating resume and references to Scott Perdue, the AMHL Director of Officials and AYHL Referee-In-Charge at ayhlric@gmail.com.
