ROYALS’ HARRIS HONOURED BY CAMOSUN COLLEGE

Victoria, BC – The Victoria Royals are proud to announce today that Director of Hockey Operations and Communications Jeff Harris has received the Co-op Employer of the Year Award from Camosun College’s Centre for Sport & Exercise Education.

Sponsored by Camosun College Co-operative Education and Student Employment, this award recognizes an outstanding internship employer of the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education students. Criteria includes the employer’s involvement with co-operative education ranging from assisting in workplace education preparation seminars to providing students with an enriching and challenging work experience.

“I am both surprised and honoured to receive this award,” Harris said. “We have been very fortunate to have a great relationship with Camosun College and specifically the Centre for Sport & Exercise Education over the last five years. The value these students have added to our organization has been tremendous. We look forward to continuing to develop this relationship for years to come.”

Harris has welcomed over 20 interns in his five years in Victoria. These individuals help in the organization’s Communications and Hockey Operations departments. The interns have been an integral part of game night operations while other duties include statistical compilation, creation of game stories and social media.

The Royals would also like to congratulate former internship participant and Communications Coordinator Adam McKinnon. McKinnon recently graduated from the Bachelor of Sport Fitness Leadership program at Camosun College where he was named valedictorian.
