Cougars Sign Tate Olson

Press Release

The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce that they have signed 1997-born defenceman Tate Olson (Saskatoon, SK) to a standard Western Hockey League contract. Olson was drafted in the second round (24th overall) by the Prince George Cougars in the 2012 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Last season Olson played with the Saskatoon Stallions where he scored 21 goals, and added 29 assists in 36 games.

“We are very happy to welcome Tate and his family to the Prince George Cougars,” said Prince George Cougars General Manager Dallas Thompson. “We now have our top three draft picks from 2012 signed heading into training camp.”

Olson was one of three signed Prince George Cougars prospects who recently participated in the 2012 Allstate All-Canadians Mentorship Camp in Mississauga, ONT. He and fellow prospects Jansen Harkins and Brad Morrison greatly benefited from the experience, and will be in Prince George for training camp on Friday, August 24th.

“It’s helpful knowing that I’m signed and that I’ll have a great chance to play in Prince George,” said Tate Olson. “There’s going to be some added pressure on me at training camp, but that is something that I’m comfortable with.”
