Americans Ink Goaltending Prospect Evan Sarthou

Press Release

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the club has signed 2012 third round bantam draft pick (65th overall) Evan Sarthou (pron. Sar-th-ow) to a standard WHL Players Contract. With Sarthou signing today, the Americans have now signed 4 of their first 5 draft picks from the 2012 Draft, as he joins Parker Wotherspoon, Braden Purtill and Tyler Fraser.

Sarthou, a native of Black Diamond, Washington, spent the 2011-12 season competing as a member of the LA Selects Bantam AAA squad, appearing in 47 games and compiling a 2.33 goals against average and a 0.910 save percentage. The 6’0 175-pound netminder just wrapped up a solid performance at the Americans’ Rookie Camp this week, stopping all 15 shots he faced to help backstop Team White to a 5-2 win over Team Blue in the annual Blue/White game.

“We’re very excited that Evan and his family have chosen our team and the WHL for his hockey future,” explained Tory. “Evan is one of the top-rated goaltenders in the 1997 age group and we are happy to have him commit to our organization.”

Evan will stay with the club through next week’s Everett Silvertips Pre-Season Tournament and then will rejoin his club, the LA Jr. Kings U-16, for the 2012-13 season.
