Hawks Sign Adin Hill, Joe Mahon

Press Release

The Portland Winterhawks have signed goaltender Adin Hill and forward Joe Mahon.

Hill, 16, was added to the team’s protected list after training camp last summer. The 6’1”, 156-pound goaltender played last season for the Calgary Minor Midget Rangers AAA team, where he went 8-6-2 with a save percentage of 92.7% and 3.37 goals against average.

“Adin came into training camp last year and was outstanding. He followed that performance with a tremendous season, and then once again has been terrific in training camp. We were pleasantly surprised at how much he has grown and filled out since last August,” said Portland Winterhawks General Manager & Head Coach Mike Johnston.

Mahon, 18, was added to the team’s protected list last year. The 6’5”, 210-pound forward played 35 games with the Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League last season, totaling two goals and six assists for eight points, along with 90 penalty minutes.

“Joe is a big player who will add toughness and grit to our team. He played very well during the Neely Cup and has been impressive in training camp. We’re excited to add him to the team,” said Johnston.
