Oil Kings Sign Top 2 Picks

Edmonton, AB - Edmonton Oil Kings General Manager Bob Green was proud to announce the signing of 2012 Oil Kings WHL Draft picks Patrick Dea [DAY] and Andrew Koep [KEPP] to standard WHL Player Agreements this morning. Dea played last season with the St.Albert Bantam AAA Sabres of the AMBHL. He was then selected by the Oil Kings 22nd overall in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. Dea was the 2012 AMBHL North Outstanding Goaltender Of The Year and an All-Star in the 2012 Alberta Cup tournament in Lethbridge. Dea played 1,237 minutes for the Sabres and posted a 12-6-3 record with a 2.96 GAA and a 0.920 save percentage. He was the first goaltender selected in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Koep is a 5'7", 140 pound centre who played last season with the Lloydminster Bantam AAA Heat of the AMBHL. He totalled 41 goals, 20 assists for 61 points with 52 penalty minutes in 31 games. Edmonton traded up and used the 40th overall pick in the bantam draft to select the talented forward.

"We are very excited to sign our top 2 picks from this year's draft." said Oil Kings GM Bob Green "We think they both have very bright futures with our franchise and fans should look forward to watching them develop in the coming years."

Dea and Koep have both been short listed in the top 34 players for further evaluation in preparation to represent Team Alberta at the 2012 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup taking place November 1 – 4 in Calgary.

Both of these young prospects are currently attending Oil Kings Rookie Camp August 23rd to 26th at the Jubilee Recreation Centre in Fort Saskatchewan.
