Press Release
Georgetown Raiders forward Tyson Fawcett (photo credit - Izak Westgate/HHOF) has signed with the Barrie Colts and will play for the club beginning with the 2012-13 OHL season.
The 5'7", 155 lbs. native of Barrie, joins his hometown club after
spending the past three seasons in the OJHL. Fawcett kicked off his
junior career as a 16-year old member of the Orangeville Crushers,
recording 16 goals, fourth best on the club, and 29 points in 45 games
played under the tutelage of current Colts bench boss and Hall of Famer
Dale Hawerchuk.
After 10 games with the newly-named Flyers the following season,
Fawcett was moved to the Huntsville Otters to help the club on the
Dudley-Hewitt Cup run as the host club. After recording 24 points in 30
games played, the Otters fell early in the playoffs and then lost a
heart-breaking championship game at the Dudley-Hewitt Cup to Wellington,
just missing a berth at the RBC Cup national championship.
Before starting the 2011-12 season, the veteran forward was on the move
once again, joining the Georgetown Raiders to play an integral role in
the club's regular season championship title. Fawcett notched 21 goals
and 52 points in 45 games played to finish fourth on the club in
scoring. He took his game to another level in the playoffs, finishing
second on the club in scoring with 18 points in 18 games played as the
Raiders fell in game seven of the Conference Final to the eventual OJHL
champion Stouffville Spirit.
Following a solid training camp, and despite an injury that has kept
him out of the lineup early in the season, Fawcett officially signed
with the Colts and will play the 2012-13 season in his hometown.
Congratulations to Tyson and best of luck at the next level!
