Young Rivermen defenceman Dombrovskiy commits to Yale

Press Release The Langley Rivermen are pleased to announce the commitment of defenceman Viktor Dombrovskiy to Yale University for the 2015-16 season. The Coquitlam native spent last year playing in the BC Major Midget league with the Vancouver Northeast Chiefs. In 36 games, he recorded three goals and 11 assists to go along with 22 penalty minutes. “I’m extremely happy and humble to join a great program like Yale University. It is a great opportunity for me and couldn’t be happier to go there,” said the 1996-born Dombrovskiy. “I can’t thank the entire Rivermen organization enough for helping me land this commitment and that is right from ownership down to the coaching staff. They have been nothing but first class since I have been here.” Langley associate head coach Jordan Emmerson couldn’t be more pleased by what he has seen from the 16-year-old. “We are very excited for him with this opportunity. Viktor is a skilled defenceman that is smart with the puck and makes good decisions with it. Yale is a very successful program and we believe he will fit in nicely with them,” Emmerson stated. As for the 2012-13 season, Dombrovskiy has a good feeling about this year’s squad, “I can hardly wait to get the season started. I believe we have a very strong team this year and hopefully we will win a lot of games and have a deep playoff run.” (Nathan can be reached at nathanfournier@mainehockeyjournal.com)
