Press Release
The
Merritt Centennials are excited to announce the commitment of
19-year-old goaltender Tyler Steel to Brown University for the 2013-14
season.
Steel is in his third BCHL season with the Centennials
after establishing career bests in 2011-12 with a 15-11-1-0 record, 2.60
goals-against-average, .916 save percentage and three shutouts in 29
games.
As a rookie in 2010-11, the Vernon native had a 7-16-0-0
record with a 3.48 goals-against-average, .889 save percentage and one
shutout in 30 games.
“Tyler has been very patient in his
development here over the past two seasons and his dedication is
starting to pay off," said Cents GM and Head Coach Luke Pierce. "He was
very thorough in his decision making process with regards to his future
and I think his choice to commit to Brown University is a great one as
he'll have an opportunity to help in the growth of that program while
receiving a first class education."
Pierce added, "We look
forward to helping prepare Tyler for the next step and know that in the
meantime he is prepared to continue providing us with elite goaltending
on a nightly basis.”
