Press Release
CALGARY, Alta. – Brandon Morley (Burnaby, B.C./Coquitlam, BCHL) scored the winner with less than seven
minutes to go as Red posted a comeback win for the second night in a row, beating Blue 2-1 Tuesday night at
Canada West selection camp.
One night after erasing a 2-0 deficit after 20 minutes, Red battled back from a 1-0 hole with just under
11 minutes left to finish camp with an unblemished 2-0 record in intrasquad play.
James de Haas (Mississauga, Ont./Penticton, BCHL) had the other goal for Red, which won despite being
outshot for the second time in as many nights, 27-25. Red actually was on the wrong end of an 18-10 shot
clock after 40 minutes before holding a 15-9 advantage in the third.
Wade Murphy (Victoria, B.C./Penticton, BCHL) was the lone goal-scorer for Blue, finally breaking open a
scoreless game on a power play early in the third period.
Goaltenders shared playing time on both sides – Chad Katunar (Victoria, B.C./Penticton, BCHL) took over
for Curtis Skip (Grande Prairie, Alta./Grande Prairie, AJHL) in the Red goal midway through the second
period, while Tyler Steel (Vernon, B.C./Merritt, BCHL) and Jonah Imoo (Surrey, B.C./Powell River, BCHL)
played 30 minutes apiece for Blue.
Blue will look to avoid a winless intrasquad schedule when it takes on White in the final camp game on
Wednesday night (7 p.m. MT).
