Samuel Benoit is suspended for 3 games

Press Release

The Director of Player Safety of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Raymond Bolduc, suspended today Samuel Benoit for 3 additional games to the automatic suspension. The decision was taken following an incident that occurred on October 5th against the Moncton Wildcats. Here is the rationale that led to the decision:

Two Chicoutimi players were fighting with the Moncton player for possession of the puck.

The player from Moncton was able to retrieve the puck but lost his footing and fell on his knees.

At the same time the player at fault who was about twenty feet from his opponent, took a few strides. He hit his opponent, who was in a vulnerable position, on the head with his elbow and forearm.

His opponent was not injured on the play.

The player at fault was at his first offense.

The Director of Player Safety took this decision after having viewed video of the incident, considered the officials report, spoken to the players and organizations involved and consulted with his senior advisor, Sébastien Bordeleau.
