Saulnier, Duclair and Bélanger named the TELUS three stars of the week

Allain Saulnier, Anthony Duclair and Alexandre Bélanger were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for November 19th to the 25th. It was a colossal week of 9 points in 3 games for Allain Saulnier, the Moncton Wildcats forward, whilst his brother Alex collected 7 points and his teammate Yannick Veilleux picked up 8. During the 3 games won by the Wildcats, he contributed an assist on each one of the 3 goals scored by Yannick Veilleux. Wednesday, in a 4-2 win against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, Saulnier collected 3 points, including 1 goal and 2 assists as well as a +/- of +2. Saturday, in a 6-5 win against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, he scored 2 goals and added 2 assist. The first of the 4 points made him the 6th player in franchise history to obtain a 200th point during the regular season with the team. Finally, on Sunday against the Halifax Mooseheads, he recorded 2 or more points for a 3rd consecutive game, coinciding with a third straight victory for the Wildcats.

In 3 games, Anthony Duclair the Quebec Remparts forward collected 7 points, including 5 assists for a +/- of +5. Wednesday, in a 9-3 win against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he contributed two goals and added one assist and a +/- of +2. He was also named the second star of the game. Friday, in another win, 6-0, against the Sherbrooke Phoenix, he contributed three assists and a +/- of +2 in addition to being named the third star of the game. Last Sunday, in a 2-1 loss for the Remparts, he collected one assist.

In 2 Huskies wins, the 17 year old Rouyn-Noranda goaltender, Alexandre Bélanger, signed his first career shutout in the QMJHL, maintaining an average of 1.00 and a save percentage of .961. Friday, against the Shawinigan Cataractes, he made 25 saves and was named the 1st star of the game. Saturday, versus the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, he made 24 saves and won his fifth consecutive start. In total, Bélanger has seven wins and one shootout loss in 2012-13 with a goals-against-average of 2.94. Never has a rookie goaltender played at least 10 games for the Huskies, and managed to maintain a GAA under 3.00 in one season.
