Press Release
Game three of the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge presented
by Huff Estates in memory of Peter Huff saw another all-OJHL battle
between the North and West Division All-Stars.
The West Division All-Stars would dominate from the drop of the puck,
taking home a decisive 4-1 decision in Wellington, despite being outshot
in the game 33-20 by Team North.
Period one would see the West fire home three goals led by a pair from
Brad Kobryn, shorthanded, and Justin DeVincentis of the Milton
IceHawks. Ryan Schmelzer of the Division-leading Buffalo Jr. Sabres
added the third goal of the frame to enter the intermission. Sabres
netminder Parker Gahagen would stop all 15 shots he faced in the period.
The 2nd period would see much of the same with Blake Forslund of the
Orangeville Flyers notching the only goal of the period for Team West
and Alex Botten of the Georgetown Raiders (representing his former
Stouffville Spirit) replying for the North en route to a 4-1 Team West
victory. Kevin Entmaa of the Aurora Tigers would stop 16 shots in a
losing cause for Team North.
Gahagen would be named Player of the Game for the OJHL West Division
All-Stars, while Daniel Leavens of the Newmarket Hurricanes was named
Player of the Game for the OJHL North Division All-Stars.
