Press Release
The United States Hockey League announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 13th week of the 2012-13 USHL regular season.
Award winners include Michael Bunn of the Lincoln Stars, named the CCM Forward of the Week; Barrett Kaib of the Green Bay Gamblers and Ian McCoshen of the Waterloo Black Hawks, selected as co-recipients of CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Kevin Lindskoug of the Muskegon Lumberjacks who earned honors as Reebok Goaltender of the Week.
Michael Bunn, F, Lincoln Stars: He scored four goals
over two games, including his first career hat trick while playing his
first USHL game on Friday. The Wake Forrest, NC native, who has spent
the past five months recovering from knee surgery, found out shortly
before the game that he was going to be in the lineup and took advantage
of the opportunity by netting a pair of second-period goals and added
another in the third to complete the hat trick in a 6-1 win over Des
Moines. The 18-year-old also finished the night with a game high
plus-three rating. On Saturday, Bunn scored his fourth goal of the
weekend just under three minutes into a 6-2 loss to Des Moines.
Barrett Kaib, D, Green Bay Gamblers: The defenseman
registered a five-point weekend, including a four-point performance
Friday’s 7-3 victory over Dubuque. He scored the first Gambler goal of
the night on the power play in the second period and assisted on three
more power play goals to help Green Bay to the win. On Saturday, the
Upper St. Clair, PA native collected an assist on a second-period goal
in a 4-2 loss to Indiana. Kaib now has eight points in his last five
games and has registered points in six of his last eight contests. He
leads the Gamblers defensemen in scoring, and is tied for third among
USHL blueliners with 18 points (4g, 14a).
Ian McCoshen, D, Waterloo Black Hawks: The 17-year-old
tallied a goal and three assists in Waterloo’s 5-4 overtime win over
Sioux City on Saturday night. He netted the first Black Hawk goal in
the first period and assisted on Justin Kloos’ go-ahead goal in the
second. McCoshen would then assist on a pair of power play goals,
including the game-winner in the overtime session. His four-point night
snapped a six-game point drought. The Hudson, WI native has scored
nine points (2g, 7a) in 16 games this season and leads the Black Hawks
with a plus-19 on-ice rating, a mark that ranks fourth overall in the
USHL.
Kevin Lindskoug, G, Muskegon Lumberjacks: The
goaltender pitched two shutouts over the weekend as Muskegon picked up
wins over Team USA and Chicago. On Friday night, the Trelleborg, Sweden
native blocked all 28 shots he faced, including 16 in the third period
to lead the Lumberjacks to a 4-0 win over Team USA. The next night
would bring more of the same as Lindskoug turned away all 29 shots in a
3-0 win over Chicago and gave him his League-leading fifth shutout of
the season. He has won his last four starts and is 6-0-1 in his last
seven. He leads the USHL in save percentage (.930) and is tied for the
League lead in wins with 14 while his goals-against average (2.20) is
the third best mark in the USHL.
