OHL Announces Disciplinary Action

Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of the review of three (3) separate incidents which took place in games played on Friday March 22 and Saturday March 23, 2013.

Game of Friday, March 22nd,  2013 – Niagara IceDogs at Oshawa Generals

The incident reviewed was a match penalty for slashing assessed to player Ondrej Kopta of the Niagara IceDogs Hockey Club in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference Quarter-Final series against the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club.  Based on a review by the league, player Ondrej Kopta shall be suspended for a total of 10 games.

Game of Friday, March 22nd, 2013 – Sarnia Sting at Plymouth Whalers

The incident reviewed was a check to the head by player Matt Mistele of the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club resulting in an injury to player Alex Carnevale of the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club in Game 1 of their Western Conference Quarter-Final series.  Based on a review by the league, player Matt Mistele shall be suspended for a total of six (6) games.

Game of Saturday, March 23rd, 2013 – Sarnia Sting at Plymouth Whalers

The incident reviewed was a match penalty for slashing assessed to player Alex Basso of the Sarnia Sting Hockey Club in Game 2 of their Western Conference Quarter-Final series against the Plymouth Whalers Hockey Club.  Based on a review by the league, player Alex Basso shall be suspended for one (1) game effective immediately.
