Mustangs Acquire Dexter Bricker, Teal Sobkowicz

Press Release

The Melfort Mustangs have announced the acquisition of (95) forward Dexter Bricker and the CJHL list rights to (96) forward Teal Sobkowicz.

This completes the January 10th trade that sent (91) defenseman Carter Berg to the Nipawin Hawks.

The Mustangs also received (94) defenseman David Heath in the trade, he joined the Mustangs immediately.

Having a familiar face in the locker room is something Bricker is looking forward to.

"Heater is one of those good guys who you want to have on your team and i'm excited to play with him again."

Bricker joins the club after wrapping up his rookie season in the SJHL playing 44 games notching 8 goals and 7 assists for 15 points.

He also had 69 penalty minutes on the year. "I'm quite excited to come to a place that really wants me" said Bricker. "I know its a great community and there is a lot to look forward to playing for the Melfort Mustangs"

The Saskatoon, SK product spent time with the WHL's Red Deer Rebels as a 16 year old, appearing in 18 games and registering a single point.

"I'm very excited" said Bricker.

"For the fans, the city and everything. I know Melfort is a great place to play hockey with a good history and i'm excited for everything about Melfort. I'm ready to come there and have a really good season."

As for Sobkowicz, his rookie season with the Prince Albert Mintos was a solid one.

The Outlook, SK product put up 10 points in 44 games as a rookie and chipped in with two points in the Mintos playoff run.

Bricker is expected to make an immediate impact on the hockey club, which is returning all but four players from the 2012/2013 season.

Both players are expected to be in Melfort for training camp.
