Spruce Kings Hire Athletic Therapist/Trainer

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) would like to announce the hiring of Cam Smith as their new Athletic Therapist/Trainer.

Smith worked this past season with the Keystone Cup Champion Richmond Sockeyes of the Pacific Junior Hockey League (PJHL) in the same capacity. His experience also includes one season with the Vancouver Canadians baseball team and four years with the UBC Thunderbirds hockey team and the university athletics department.

"I'm happy that we have been able to hire a trainer like Cam who comes highly recommended," said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. "He has experience from last season in working with a Western Canadian Championship team and I know, that in talking with him, he is excited to be a Spruce King and to move to Prince George and become a part of our community."

"This is a great opportunity for me," said Cam Smith. "I had a great experience with the Richmond Sockeyes going on to win a championship. I've been able to work with CIS hockey and junior hockey. I'm looking forward to this new challenge, of meeting the demands of junior hockey at the higher level."

The hiring of Cam Smith will allow long-time trainer Bill Baldridge to take on a lesser role with the team and spend more time with his family. The Spruce Kings organization would like to thank Bill for all of his contributions to the team over the years and welcome the newest member to the club.

"I would also like to thank Bill Baldridge for his dedication and contributions to our organization for a lot of years in many capacities, most recently as our trainer for the past seven seasons," added Hawes. "He is a tireless worker who did everything possible to put our athletes in a position where they could have success. It was a sad day for the organization when Bill decided to take a step back to spend more time with his family; however I know he will still be around to lend a hand when needed."

Smith will arrive in Prince George in August to help the team prepare for their Main Training Camp and the start of the 2013-14 season.

"I'm really excited to come to Prince George and work for the Spruce Kings," continued Smith. "I want to help the players and the team succeed."
