Webb Brothers Commit to Petes

Press Release

Peterborough Petes General Manager Mike Oke announced this afternoon that both Mitchell Webb and Jack Webb have committed to the Peterborough Petes after signing standard player agreements.

Mitchell was the 39th overall selection by the Petes in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection held in April. This past season, Mitchell recorded 34 goals and 30 assists for 64 points in 60 games with the Greater Toronto Hockey League Champion Toronto Marlboros. The Ridgeway, ON native was selected to represent GTHL ‘Red’ at the 2013 OHL Gold Cup and has advanced to Team Ontario’s U17 summer camp this August in Oshawa.

Jack was the Petes’ 5th round selection in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection held in April. This past season, Jack recorded 5 goals and 10 assists for 15 points, also with the Marlboros, in a season shortened to 39 games as a result of an injury. Jack also represented GTHL ‘Red’ at the 2013 OHL Gold Cup.

“Mitchell and Jack are both very good players and show a lot of grit and determination,” said Petes General Manager Mike Oke. “They are players our fans are really going to enjoy watching over the next few years. Their father (Steve) is a former OHL referee so they're very familiar with the OHL. The family also has some local connections as Steve attended college in Peterborough.”

“Today is the result of hard work and many sacrifices made by myself and Jack as well as my family,” said Mitchell. “Without them this day would not have been possible. We can’t thank the Petes organization enough for drafting us and again I'm very excited for what the future holds in Peterborough.”

“It's a very exciting day for us as it's the beginning of a new journey and it's an honour to begin this new journey with the Peterborough Pete's as they have such a proud tradition and rich history,” added Jack.
