SHERBROOKE, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 - The second game of the SUBWAY
Super Series between the QMJHL and Russian All-Stars was held tonight
in Sherbrooke in front of 3,302 fans.
Daniel Audette of the
Sherbrooke Phoenix was inserted into the line-up in the place of William
Carrier of the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles. Defenseman Nikolas
Brouillard of the Drummondville Voltigeurs replaced defender Alexis
Vanier of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, who was injured in game one.
The
starting line-up of the QMJHL All-Stars was composed of Sébastien Auger
of the Sea Dogs in goals with Samuel Morin of the Océanic and Daniel
Walcott of the Armada on defense and forwards Jonathan Drouin of the
Mooseheads, Anthony Mantha of the Foreurs and Charles Hudon of the
Saguenéens.
Team QMJHL opened the scoring with a goal from Daniel
Audette to put the home crowd into a raging frenzy at 3:11 of the first
period .
During a 5-minute power play, the Russians tied the
game on goal from Mark Skutar. Valentin Zykov and Denis Gorbunov
assisted on the goal at 13:57.
The home team went back on top thanks to Anthony Mantha. Drouin and Hudon provided assists on the marker.
With only 8.2 seconds left in the first period, the Russians tied the game on a goal by Rudenkov.
At 4:33 of the second period, Team QMJHL retook the lead when Christopher Clapperton deflected a shot from Daniel Walcott.
The
Russians tied it up again thanks to Ivan Barbashev of the Moncton
Wildcats, but Anthony Duclair scored the game-winner with a few minutes
left in the game.
Hometown favorite Daniel Audette received the player of the game award for Team QMJHL thanks to his stellar performance.
