Team USA forward picks Cornell University

Press Release

Team USA forward Jared Fiegl has committed to play college hockey at Cornell University following his USHL career.

He has been limited to eight games in the USHL this season due to injury.  The recently turned 18-year-old helped Team USA win the Five Nations Tournament in Dmitrov, Russia with a perfect 4-0-0 record earlier this month.  Fiegl first played in the USHL last season for Team USA’s Under-17 squad and collected eight points (4g, 4a) in 38 regular season games.  The Parker, Colorado native is gaining attention from NHL scouts for the 2014 NHL Draft as he was listed #100 among North American skaters in the midterm rankings by NHL Central Scouting.

Fiegl is joined by another Team USA member in defenseman Ryan Bliss who is also committed to Cornell.  Three other current USHL players have intentions to play college hockey at the school; Cam Hackett (Green Bay Gamblers), Dwyer Tschantz (Indiana Ice), and Anthony Angello (Omaha Lancers).

Cornell University is a member of the ECAC and has 12 USHL alumni on the roster this season; Joakim Ryan (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Christian Hilbrich (Indiana Ice), Eric Freschi (Dubuque Fighting Saints), John McCarron (Lincoln Stars), Brian Ferlin (Indiana Ice), Armand de Swardt (Chicago Steel), Teemu Titinen (Lincoln Stars), Clint Lewis (Team USA), Cole Bardreau (Team USA), Jacob MacDonald (Waterloo Black Hawks), Jeff Kubiak(Muskegon/Chicago), and Andy Iles (Team USA).
