Murphy snipes pair to pot POW nod

Penticton Vees forward Wade Murphy has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending May 6, the league announced Monday.

Murphy had both goals in Penticton's 3-2 overtime loss to the Humboldt Broncos Sunday night. The Victoria product evened the game in the first on a slapper from the high slot and later forced OT when he finished off a nice passing play with less than five minutes to go in the third.

The 6-foot, 178-pound forward was the only Vees player with mulitple points after two games and was tied for the RBC Cup lead with two goals.

Honourable mentions this week go to defenceman Nick Buchanan, forward Mario Lucia and forrward Joey Benik.
