Phantoms Trade for Experienced Forward Stephen Collins

Press Release

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown Phantoms and Head Coach Curtis Carr have announced the acquisition of forward Stephen Collins from the

Stephen Collins added by the Phantoms in a trade with Cedar Rapids.
Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. In exchange for Collins the Phantoms sent their fifth round pick in this year’s USHL Entry Draft to Cedar Rapids.

Last season Collins appeared in 40 games and recorded fifteen points (8g,7a). He was penalized for a total of 35 minutes during the 2009-10 season. Collins has played in twelve games for the RoughRiders, picking up two goals and three assists for a total of five points so far this season.

“He is a player with speed and grit,” said Carr. “He competes very hard and that is something we really liked about him. He has had decent point production so far and we will look for him to produce consistently in our lineup.”

To make room for Collins forward Josef Pontasch was dropped from the Youngstown roster. In eleven games played for the Phantoms Pontasch recorded two penalty minutes and no points.

“Josef was an outstanding individual,” said Carr. “He worked extremely hard for us and we wish him the best of luck going forward in his career.”

Collins will wear number 15 for the Phantoms and he will make his first appearance with the team this weekend at the Covelli Centre against Team USA.
