ALBERTA CAPTURES U16 GOLD IN MOOSE JAW

Moose Jaw, SK -- Reid Duke scored the game winning goal and added an assist to lead Team Alberta to a 10-4 win over Team Manitoba to claim the Gold Medal at the 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup from Moose Jaw, SK. This is the second time that Team Alberta has won this tournament who also defeated Team Manitoba in the inaugural event in 2009 in Blackfalds, AB. Jacob Virtanen scored the game winning goal to lead Team British Columbia to a 5-4 win over Team Saskatchewan in the Bronze Medal Game earlier in the day. The 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup marked the second playing of this tournament after taking a one year hiatus in 2010 for the Canada Winter Games.

Gold Medal Game: Team AB 10 - 4 Team MB

Reid Duke scored the game winning goal and added an assist to lead Team Alberta to a 10-4 win over Team Manitoba in the Gold medal game at the 2011 Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup from Moose Jaw, SK. This is the second time that Team Alberta has won this tournament, which is in its second year of existence. Team Alberta also defeated Team Manitoba in the inaugural event in 2009 in Blackfalds, AB.
