De Jersey Commits to Providence

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) are very happy to announce the scholarship commitment of Paul De Jersey with Providence College in Rhode Island beginning with the 2012-13 season. Providence College is a NCAA Division I school with an enrollment of over 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Providence College Friars mens hockey team is a founding member of the Big East Conference playing in the Hockey East Association.

"As an organization, we are very excited for Paul," said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. "Paul has had a tremendous start to the season and has proven that he is an elite player in our league. We're happy that Paul was able to achieve his goal of obtaining a NCAA Division I scholarship after coming to the Spruce Kings in the off season."

Paul De Jersey will be the first Spruce Kings alumni to attend Providence College who boast Brian Burke, Toronto Maple Leafs General Manager and Lou Lamoriello, New Jersey Devils CEO and President as some of their notable alumni. The College offers fifty majors and thirty-four minors while specializing in the Liberal Arts.

"I will get a chance to check out the campus in a couple of weeks," said Paul De Jersey. "I've heard a lot of good things about the school and I'm very excited to have been noticed by them while playing here in Prince George. The Spruce Kings have given me a great opportunity to play with good players, getting lots of ice time and playing in key situations."
