Hamonic named interim captain

Press Release

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans’ Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that 19-year-old defenseman Justin Hamonic will serve as the team’s interim captain, until current team captain Mitch Topping returns from injury.

Also, the team announced today that overage forwards Philip Tot and Jessey Astles have been named assistant captains.

Hamonic, who is in the midst of his third full WHL season, is coming off a career-best 2012-13 campaign, recording new highs in assists (7), points (8) and plus/minus (+9).  In 139 career WHL games, the Winnipeg, Manitoba-native has registered 2 goals, 19 points and 71 penalty minutes.

“When Mitch returns, he will, once again, be our team captain,” explained Tory.  “However, in the meantime, I felt it was important to designate a captain in the dressing room.”
