OHL Round-Up

In Brampton, Cody Hodgson and Matt Duchene scored in the opening minute of the game to pace the Battalion to a 7-2 win over the Belleville Bulls in the Rogers OHL Eastern Conference Championship Series on Friday.

Evgeny Grachev scored two goals and added an assist and Thomas McCollum made 20 saves to help the Battalion push to a 2-0 lead in the series in front of 4,072 at the Powerade Centre.

Hodgson scored 10 seconds into the game and Duchene counted 32 seconds later. Jason Dale and Matt Peroff also scored in the first period and Thomas Stajan scored in the third. Matt Clark had two assists in the win.

Mike Murphy surrendered three goals on seven shots before giving way to Philipp Grubauer, who allowed four goals on 41 shots in relief.

Nick Pageau and Luke Pither replied for Belleville, who host Game 3 on Sunday.

Game Summary

London Knights 6, Windsor Spitfires 5 (OT)

In London, Phil Varone scored 2:25 into overtime to lift the Knights to a 6-5 win over the Windsor Spitfires to tie the Rogers Western Conference Championship Series at one game each.

John Carlson and John Tavares each had two goals and Phil McRae also scored for London. Michael Del Zotto had three assists and Nazem Kadri added two helpers in the win.

Scott Timmins and Eric Wellwood staked the Spitfires to a two-goal lead in the first period. Taylor Hall, Rob Kwiet and Greg Nemisz also scored for Windsor while Ryan Ellis had two assists.

Trevor Cann allowed five goals on 32 shots in the win while Andrew Engelage gave up six goals on 44 shots for Windsor.

Game 3 is Sunday in Windsor.
