Press Release
The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) and the Ontario Hockey
Association (OHA), today announced that eight referees and eleven
linesmen have been selected as candidates to work the best-of-seven OJHL
Championship Series starting on April 10, 2013 at St. Michaels College
School Arena in Toronto.
The South-West Conference Champion St. Michaels Buzzers will be
facing the North-East Conference Champion Newmarket Hurricanes in quest
of the OJHL Championship and the OHA’s Frank L. Buckland Trophy (better
known as the Buckland Cup). The winner of this series will move on to
the Central Canadian Junior ‘A’ Championship, the Dudley-Hewitt Cup,
being held in North Bay, Ontario from April 30 – May 4, 2013.
“These selections were based on playoff evaluations to date, input
from OHA Supervisors, and in some cases teams. The OJHL indicated to
the OHA that they wanted to ensure that Officials with a strong OJHL
background and exposure level were rewarded with working the Buckland
Cup,” said OHA Director of Officiating Bob Morley.
“The OJHL and OHA have worked closely over the past season in
ensuring that we work collaboratively on the OHA Officiating Program and
we are excited to announce these well deserving officials who are
working our championship series,” stated OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy.
