MSU Picks Up Another for 2010

Michigan State has received a verbal commitment from National Team Development Program Under-17 goaltender Willie Yanakeff. At the NAHL Showcase a few weeks ago, he was 1-1 with a 2.00 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. Last year with the U-16 Honeybaked program, he was 10-6-1 with a 2.26 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. The Under-17 Team gets back to NAHL action this weekend with a pair of games against Traverse City.

Other recruits for the Spartans for the 2010 season include Austin Czarnik also of the Under-17 team. At the NAHL Showcase he had four goals in four games. Late 1991 born David Johnstone of Traverse City also is committed. So far this season he has four goals in eight games. Defenseman Michael Gunn committed last spring. He's on the Mahoning Valley Phantoms roster but hasn't played a game. Finally Andrew Sinelli who plays for the Honeybaked Major Midget program.

Victor Anilane of the Sioux Falls Stampede has committed to Bemidji State. So far with the Stampede he has a goal and two assists. Last year with Rögle of the Swedish SuperElit League he had 23 goals and 17 assists in 38 games. My question is he even NCAA eligible? He spent time with Rogle's team that participates in the Allsvenskan which is the Swedish version of the AHL. Illegal Curve has a profile on him.

Other Commitments

Brent Vandenberg-Niagara
Andrew Starczewski-Army
