Telus Players of the Week

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, September 14, 2009 – Gatineau Olympiques forward Tye McGinn and Drummondville Voltigeurs defenseman Andrew Randazzo today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from September 10 to 13.

McGinn collected three goals, including two game-winners, and added three assists to help the Olympiques start the season off in fine fashion with two victories. Moreover, he posted a +2 rating. The left-winger enjoyed his best game of the week yesterday in Rimouski, recording five points in a 9-4 win over the Océanic.

Sean Couturier (Voltigeurs), Christian Ouellet-Martel (Olympiques) and Brandon Street (Rocket) were also considered.

On defence, Andrew Randazzo got the nod. In two games, the 19-year-old defenseman registered one goal and two assists while posting an amazing +5 rating. Furthermore, he recorded twelve shots on goal. The Hamilton native played a key role on the power-play for the Voltigeurs who opened up their season with two wins.

Wendell Vye (Wildcats), Kevin Gagné (Sea Dogs) and Antoine Tardif (Voltigeurs) were also strong candidates.
