Officials Camp Added to Spruce Kings Hockey School

Press Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC – The Prince George Spruce Kings of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) announced today the addition of a Hockey Officials Showcase in conjunction with the team’s annual Hockey School. The Hockey Officials Showcase, presented by NHL official Brad Lazarowich, is a two day camp running August 13th and 14th in the Prince George Coliseum.

Lazarowich has gained a tremendous amount of experience officiating in over 1800 regular season and 200 playoff games in his 28 years as an on-ice official in the National Hockey League. As well as his active duties with the NHL, Lazarowich recently joined the BCHL as the league’s Associate Director of Officiating with a vision of transforming the BCHL into a development league for officials. The one time resident of Prince George and graduate of the BCHL will bring unmatched knowledge and experience to the Hockey Officials Showcase to mentor and develop young hockey officials in the region.

"I am proud of my 28 years, and counting, of service as a linesman in the NHL and I hope to give back to the league and the city I started in," said Brad Lazarowich. "It only seems fitting to share the knowledge I have gained officiating at the professional level and this is a great opportunity to do just that with the Prince George Spruce Kings Hockey School."

"(The BCHL) is really trying to create a development program where hockey officials of all ages can receive guidance in the desire to become a hockey official at any level and age," added Lazarowich. "We are currently recruiting for the league and would love to see what Prince George and surrounding area has to offer for local officiating talent."

Those interested in the Hockey Officials Showcase are asked to do so in an email to Brad Lazarowich ( eliteofficiating@shaw.ca) with their name, age, experience and contact information.
