BLAZERS SIGN GOALTENDER COLE CHEVELDAVE

Press Release

Kamloops, BC - Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner has announced the signing of 17-year-old goaltender Cole Cheveldave of Calgary, AB. He spent this past season with the Drumheller Dragons of the AJHL where he posted a 2.90 goals against average and a .917 save percentage.

Cheveldave was a unanimous selection to the AJHL South Division All-Rookie Team and was named the Dragons player of the game 14 times last season. The 5’11” goaltender was named the 2010-11 AJHL Rookie of the Year and was also a finalist for the AJHL MVP Award and Top Goaltender Award.

"Cole proved last season that he is capable of being a very good goaltender,” Bonner said. “We are excited that Cole has chosen our program. This will give us some depth in the goaltending position going into next season.”

Cheveldave, who turns 18 on June 8th, was listed by the Blazers in September 2010 and will compete for a spot on the hockey club when training camp starts in August 2011.
