Press Release

BC Hockey announced April 12, 2011 the rosters for the Male U16 BC Cup being held in Kamloops, BC from April 28 – May 1, 2011. The teams were selected from the various Zone Camps held across BC from April 1-3, 2011.

In previous years, 160 players were selected based on their performance at the Zone Camps. The Male High Performance Program has added an additional 40 players to the 2011 BC Cup, bringing the total players to 200 and number of competing teams to 10.

Male U16 Rosters

The Male U16 BC Cup offers the top male players in the BC Hockey High Performance U16 Program the unique experience of competing with the best players in their age group from across the Province. The objective of the Program is to enhance the overall performance of BC athletes, coaches and officials in high level sporting events.

Some notable players that have participated in the Male U16 BC Cup include:

Brent Seabrook – Chicago Blackhawks – Team Greater Vancouver
Brandon McMillan – Anaheim Ducks – Team Fraser River/Delta
Brett Connolly – Prince George Cougars/Tampa Bay Lighting – Team North East

The top 68 players selected from the U16 BC Cup will advance to compete in the U16 Provincial Camp. The Provincial Camp will be held in Penticton, BC from June 29 – July 4, 2011, and will showcase the best talent that BC has to offer at the Male Under 16 level.

The Male Under 16 Program was designed by BC Hockey to instruct and prepare High Performance players for future opportunities in the BC Hockey High Performance Program. Open Zone Camps are held in March for players 15 years or younger. From each zone, 20 players are selected to compete in the jamboree style U16 BC Cup. A jamboree style tournament is when the 20 players selected from each zone are mixed together to form the 10 teams.
